Description: The proper celebration of the Eucharist requires the involvement of many people, notably, lectors and extra-ordinary ministers of communion. Persons interested in these public ministries need to discern their suitability with the pastor. Ministers of Communion must be approved by the Bishop.

Description: The ministry of greeting is perhaps one of the most crucial in the church because it is one of the most visible. First impressions are often lasting impressions. We want members and visitors to Corpus Christi Parish to feel that it makes a difference that they are here and that someone is happy to see them. Our greeters welcome people at the doors of the church before all our Masses.

Description: Ushers play an important role in the liturgy. Some ushers serve as greeters also, so they welcome people who are entering the church. They are alert and attentive to the needs of people as they enter the church and during the liturgy. Ushers help people find seating, especially at the larger liturgical celebration such as Easter and Christmas. They take up the collection during the offertory. They make sure the bulletins are put out, and at some of the Masses they hand them out as people leave the church. The ministry of being a warm, welcoming presence as an usher, like greeting, is crucial in the church because ushers are very visible.

These dedicated women attend to the needs of the sanctuary and sacristy in greater detail than general maintenance. Volunteers gather weekly to dust and polish furniture, altars, and various liturgical items in the sanctuary and do dusting, maintain order and help maintain sacred vessels and vesture. Martha & Mary members also set up and maintain seasonal decorations, particularly for major liturgical celebrations, feasts, and seasons. Major work centers around the preparation for Advent,
Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Care for plants and attention to flower arrangements for the altars throughout the year also are included tasks.
Training: Ongoing, provided by current members of Martha & Mary Ministry.

Do you love to garden? Love to meet other people while gardening? Maybe you don’t have a garden of your own, but would still love to work in a garden. This is for you. Gardening angels volunteer to water, weed, mulch, plant flowers, trim trees, and even on occasion pull shrubs in order to make the parish grounds at Immaculate Conception Church and our Parish Center look beautiful.
Training: Ongoing, provided by surrent Gardening Angels.
